Literature Text

Wrapped tightly within sheets and a comforter - feeling to miserable to get out of bed. Laying on his side, Cyrus sighed. today was that Lynsey girl's party. Flashbacks of the Oktoberfest assembly involuntarily flooded through his thoughts; forcing their way through those he tried to think of instead.

Cyrus grabbed part of the comforter and tightly clenched a fist around the fabric. He slowly curled into the fetal position, wrapping an arm around his torso as if it were the only thing holding him together. Tears skated down the skin of his cheeks. Different memories from another time were making themselves known - remembered.

There was a knock at the front door. Cyrus made no effort to answer the caller. There was more knocking before Cyrus heard the door open. The blond already had an idea of who the visitor was. Now that the door had been unlocked. Cyrus knew exactly who it was. There was only one other person who had a key to the front door besides himself.

The German's voice traveled through the house, echoing in the hallways, crawling up the stairs into Cyrus's bedroom. Cyrus sighed. He didn't want Halt to see him in his current state, but the Californian really didn't have a choice. He did not move.

"Cyrus, where are you? It's almost time to leave"
Judging by the sound of his voice, Halt was very close to the bedroom.
"Don't you want to be there on time?"

He didn't. Cyrus didn't want to go to the party at all. However, he remained silent. Footsteps were approaching the door.

"Cyrus?" The door flew open

Halt sighed. "Cyrus, this is no time to be sleeping! You're not even ready, yet!"
Halt sat on the edge of the bed, getting ready to rouse Cyrus out of bed.
He froze.

Halt's eyes quivered with emotion. Cyrus's face was red and tear stained. His hair was a disaster. Fatigue was apparent on his face. Halt had never seen Cyrus like this (He had never seen Cyrus without his make up, either).

Halt wordlessly pulled Cyrus into his arms, holding his body against his chest. Cyrus mad the motions as if he were crying, but there were no tears. The Californian pressed his hand against his face as if to hide.
"Cyrus... Do you want to go to Lynsey's party?"

Cyrus shook his head no. Halt affectionately tightened his arms around the blond.
"I've got a present for you."
Cyrus looked up at Halt's face. "What is it?"
Halt smiled at now having the blond's attention. "I can't tell you. It's a surprise."

Cyrus whined in disapproval. He hated waiting.
"You know what," Cyrus decided. "I'll go to her dumb party. It's not like it's going to be any good, anyway."

Halt smiled, happy to have Cyrus accompanying him. Cyrus stood up and began to get dressed, not caring that Halt was watching. As he finished buttoning his shirt, Cyrus walked over to his vanity mirror before opening a container with black liquid.
"What is that?" Halt asked, pointing to the unknown object.

"Gel eyeliner," Cyrus answered curtly.
The Californian picked up a thin bristled eyeliner brush, and proceeded in applying the makeup. Halt watched in awe as Cyrus expertly applied the cosmetics to his face.

"Alright, I'm ready to go," Cyrus announced after tucking his white skinny jeans into his shin-high boots.

Halt examined him up and down. Cyrus was wearing black shin-high boots, white skinny jeans, a burgundy button up shirt, and a black blazer. His makeup consisted of black eyeliner, black and purple hazed eye shadow, and simple mascara. He looked pretty - for a guy.

"Let's be on our way, then." Halt ran down the stairs and retrieved his black leather jacket from the coat hanger. Cyrus retrieved a white shirt jacket, leaving it unbuttoned.
Halt opened the door and waited as Cyrus closed and locked it.
